Myslenice

Some history
The first mentions of Myślenice date from the 12th century and concern the settlement and the defensive guards. The city owes its development to a favorable location on the trade route to Hungary. The region of Myślenice was also known in the 15th and 16th centuries in the glass industry and the development of crafts. By virtue of the decree of Casimir III the Great, in 1342 Myślenice received city rights. During the partitions of Myślenice, they fell within the Austrian partition. Membership in Poland was granted to the city in 1918.

Position
Myślenice lies on the border of the Beskids and the Carpathian Foothills - 30 km south of Krakow on the route to Zakopane. Convenient geographical location, transport accessibility and well-developed accompanying infrastructure make Myślenice an excellent recreational and leisure base, and numerous tourist attractions create opportunities for various forms of tourism.

Values ​​and attractions
Myślenice is a perfect place to rest. The summer district of Zarabie invites you to the water, the beach and the entire summer complex in the summer - an outdoor swimming pool, mini golf, tennis courts, karting track, sports fields and horse riding areas. An attraction can also be the Aquarius Aquatic Center - a modern indoor swimming pool with a sauna, a whirlpool and a gym, launched in 2000.

In Myślenice, there is the longest one-stop cable railway in Poland (and in Europe) (2006 m.) To the Chełm mountain - an attraction for both active leisure enthusiasts and those who want to enjoy the wonderful nature, silence and tranquility of the surrounding forests. On the top of the mountain there is an observation tower, an impressive steel structure, from which we can admire the panorama of the Beskid Wyspowy, Gorce, and with favorable conditions even the Tatras and Krakow. In the private astronomical observatory there are cyclical astronomy classes combined with observation of the sky.

Within Myślenice there is a partial landscape reserve Zamczysko nad Rabą, where the ruins of a medieval castle have been preserved to this day. The holiday offer is varied with various cultural events and picnics. The main monuments of Myślenice are: the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (XV century, rebuilt several times), the Koniecpolski chapel (1644), presbytery (XVIII - XIX centuries), the church of St. Mary and St. James the Elder (XV century), the chapel of the Third Fall (1780), the remains of the castle (XIII century).

Surroundings
Lesser Poland, within which Myślenice is located, is one of the most frequently visited tourist regions of our country. Myślenice is an excellent starting point for the most attractive Polish resorts, such as Zakopane or Krynica, rich in beautiful monuments of Krakow or equally attractive holiday destinations, such as Dobczyce or Pcim. An unquestionable attraction of the Raba valley is the beautiful Dobczyckie Lake, which is not only a symbol of the regional ecosystem, but also a multitude of local monuments, among which there are ruins of an old castle, as well as several extremely interesting sacred objects.
